Dr. Eleni Pratsini

Eleni Pratsini holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering (U. Birmingham), an M.B.A (UCLA), and a Ph.D. in Quantitative Analysis (U. Cincinnati).  After her Ph.D., she was an Assistant and then Associate Professor of Decision Sciences at Miami University, where she taught courses in Operations Research at the Business undergraduate and executive MBA Programs.  Her research in production, logistics, applied statistics and environmental analysis led to numerous refereed scientific publications and presentations at professional meetings.

In 1999 Eleni joined the Institute for Operations Research at the ETH Zurich where she directed students in industrial and research projects and also carried out consulting in Supply Chain Management. 

Eleni joined IBM Research - Zurich in 2003 and has been working on Supply Chain modeling and optimization projects, with particular interest in production distribution networks and strategic modeling of supply chains incorporating regulatory and quality risk.  Since 2005 she leads the Mathematical Sciences group engaging in a number of applied research projects with internal and external clients bringing innovation through advanced analytics.  In 2008 she became the head of the Mathematical and Computational Sciences department addressing Business Analytics, Simulation of Complex Systems and Supercomputing Applications.
Eleni will join the Watson Research Center in 2Q 2012 managing the Optimization Research activities in the BAMS strategy.
